Nike Pays Homage to Kobe Bryant and Aston Martin

What's the best way to pay tribute to two of the greatest? A high priced sneaker of course.
Nike teamed up with Kobe Bryant and Aston Martin and released the Nike Hyperdunk Aston Martin-Kobe Pack. Why? Not really sure. The limited edition, 200 pairs, hit a special Staples Center store yesterday and retailed for a mere $700.00. It also came with a BB10 leather jacket.
The cool part, all proceeds from the shoe do directly to the LA84 foundation. The Foundation's mission is to serve youth through sport and to increase knowledge of sport and its impact on people’s lives. The LA84 Foundation supports a wide array of youth sports programming throughout Los Angeles.
Check out this video of Kobe jumping over a speeding Aston Martin-it's awesome!

The New Aston Martin Martin Rapide

According to CARSCOOP, Aston Martin has a reason to celebrate this week as the first examples of its new Rapide four-door sports car have left the Aston Martin Rapide Plant (that's the dedicated facility at Magna Steyr's operations in Graz, Austria) for delivery to customers around the world. The company said that the Rapide will reach buyers and Aston Martin's 125 showrooms in 34 countries over the next few weeks.

The Rapide was first shown as a concept at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, with the production model following at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. The four-door saloon provides space for up to four adults and 301 liters of luggage compartment. It is powered by a hand-built 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 470 bhp (477 PS / 350 kW) with peak power being delivered at 6,000 rpm and 600 Nm (443 lb.ft) peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The price of the Rapide starts from $199,950 in the U.S., and from £139,950 in the UK.

China and the Luxury Auto Market

Eurocar definitely has a global market. I sell and ship cars to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Angola, Japan, and everywhere in between. Recently we have seen an increase in exports to China, and let me tell you, it's not cheap to ship a car there. This week we are flying (yes, in an airplane) an Aston Martin DB9 to China. At a mere $15,000, it actually is a bargain. The same car is $100K more in China and is virtually impossible to get. So what is fueling this High-Line frenzy?

According to MSNBC, China is "increasingly becoming the engine of our industry," said Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG. Sales of its Mercedes-Benz cars in China soared 112 percent in the first quarter of this year to 23,600 vehicles.

Volkswagen AG's Audi unit, BMW AG's Rolls Royce, Fiat SpA's Ferrari and other makers of high-priced wheels are seeing similar gains.

The surge has been propelled by an economic boom that created a new crop of Chinese millionaires and several dozen billionaires in a country that had almost no private cars 15 years ago. China's mainland now has 825,000 people worth at least 10 million yuan (US$1.3 million), according to Rupert Hoogewerf, a researcher of wealthy Chinese.

Heatin' Up-Getting Your Car Ready For Summer

As the weather changes so do your car's needs. Here a few tips to get your car ready for the summer and to keep it running at peak performance.

1.Check your tire pressure. Tire pressure is important at all times. It's critical to have properly inflated tires, as this assures the best possible contact between the tire and the road. Read your owner's manual to find the correct tire pressures, and, if necessary, adjust pressures to compensate for the hotter operating conditions -- especially if you're doing lots of high-speed driving . Properly inflated tires will also last longer and improve gas mileage.

2. Inspect the belts and hoses. The belts and hoses in modern cars last a long time. But that doesn't mean they don't have the potential to fail. Before summer begins, have the belts and hoses inspected on your vehicle. And if you're not sure when they were last replaced, consider having them changed, especially before commencing a long road trip.

3. Check coolant/antifreeze mixture/and other fluids. The ideal mixture of coolant and water inside your vehicle's radiator is 50:50. If the mixture deviates from this norm, then hot-weather performance (and cold) can be compromised.
If you were to put pure water in your vehicle's radiator, it would boil at 212 degrees Fahrenheit. But if you combine the water with an equal amount of antifreeze, the new mixture boils at a much higher temperature.
You can check the composition of a radiator's mixture by using an antifreeze tester. You can find these at all auto parts stores, and they are inexpensive and easy to use. If the mixture's balance is off, adjust it by adding either coolant or water. You may also need to check the other vital fluids in your car if your vehicle has been stored all winter. In addition to engine oil, you need to check the brake system's master cylinder, the coolant level, the power-steering fluid and the transmission fluid if the vehicle has an automatic transmission.

4. Check the battery. A battery gives little warning before it goes dead. And it'll likely do so when you least expect it. Hot weather can put additional strain on a battery similar to what is experienced in cold weather. If your vehicle battery is more than three years old, have it tested at a certified automotive repair facility. Also, make sure the posts and connections are free of corrosion. If you're embarking on a long trip, consider replacing the battery if you don't know how old it is. These days, batteries are not very expensive, and it's cheap insurance when you're out on the open road. We also recommend that you always carry jumper cables, as mentioned below in the emergency kit section.

What's Hot and What's Not

The fact that Eurocar is as busy as we are, never ceases to amaze me (and I always thank God and count my blessings). I mean, don't you guys know it's a recession out there? Of course you do. My clients are smart and they are smart with their money. Although I would gather that most of my clients could buy any car at any price, they don't, because they know what's hot and what's not. Hot is saving $60,000 to $100,000 on one purchase. Not is loosing that much when you drive off the lot in your brand new (fill in the blank).
And speaking of hot, when it comes to cars, Eurocar's got the formula right. We have amazing cars, better than fair prices, and an owner, Tilo Steurer, who truly is honest and full of integrity. For those of you who know me well and have been with me for years, you know that truthfulness and principle are what matters most to me, in life and in business. To work for someone that shares my core values, in an industry that is known for it's ugly side, is essential to me.
But enough about all that. It's really ALL ABOUT THE CARS. For years my forte has been selling Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche, but Eurocar has taken my specialty to the next level. In addition to selling those fabulous three, we are really focusing on Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Ferrari.

Let's just say...I have the BEST job in the world!

Back to hot, right now my hottest selling brand is Aston Martin. There is a certain mystique to these cars.
Think Bond. James Bond.
Even here in Newport Beach where everyone drives expensive cars, you won't see many. We sell primarily 2005-2009 models. The cars are only a few years old with 2,000 - 15,000 miles. These were $130,000-$265,000 cars new. I sell them for about half of there original price, that's hot. Some folks have a fear of maintaining these cars, however it seems to be unfounded, especially with 2005 models and newer.
Basically, all they require is a service once a year, regardless of mileage. I have a few 2007 models with only 5,000 miles and they still need to be serviced yearly. That service is only a glorified oil change that runs about $550 at a Aston Martin dealer. You might be able to get it done cheaper at a good independent shop, but I think that's a pretty fair price to maintain the sexiest car on the road. Aston Martin also recommends a 3 year "major service" that runs about $1,600.
One tip to remember anytime you service your car, make sure that they log all of the information into their main computer( all dealers do now) also, make sure they
stamp your service book and you keep the receipt with the the service book
The more records you have the higher your car's value is.
As far warranty on Aston's, it is 3 years but you can purchase an extended warranty from the dealer. They average $3,800 per year and I recommend them over any aftermarket warranty currently available.
If you've driven an Aston Martin, you know what they are all about. PASSION!
The cars lines are sleek and aggressive. The interior coach work is pure art.
And then there's the sound...there's nothing this side of heaven that makes the sound or notes that come through the exhaust pipes. Just yesterday, I drive down Coast Highway in a DB9 Volante and listened to the most beautiful sound ever. No, not the ocean, the CAR!
That's hot.
